The team at Modplan Ltd is celebrating being awarded ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification by the British Board of Agrément. Heidi Sachs, Modplan’s Managing Director, said, “We are delighted to have received this award. Along with our existing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems certification, it’s evidence of our commitment to having a high quality, sustainability-driven business that’s a valuable partner to all our customers.”
ISO 14001 is a recognised environmental standard and Modplan’s certification marks it out as having an exceptionally high standard of environmental systems in place. Certification means the Modplan team is committed to environmentally aware practices such as increasing the company’s use of energy efficient processes and investing in energy efficient equipment, lighting and controls and fuel efficient vehicles. The team is also committed to increasing the 80% of waste plastic and cardboard that is already being recycled still further and reducing the amount of waste that is sent to landfill year on year. The company also aims to prevent pollution at source through engineered controls and workforce training and environmental awareness. It has also put emergency environmental controls in place to minimise the environmental damage in the event of an incident.
Heidi Sachs said, “Our environmental team has worked very hard to implement the requirements of ISO 14001. But for us, it’s an ongoing process. We have achieved the certification, but that’s just the beginning. As a business we have a responsibility to protect our planet for future generations. Our certification is an indication of how seriously we take that responsibility.”
