One of the North West’s leading aluminium and uPVC installers, K2 Aluminium Systems, and VEKA fabricator, The Glazerite UK Group Ltd have worked together on a commercial project aimed at rejuvenating an area of Liverpool. The window installation at Phoenix Place, two purpose-built blocks of student accommodation, is part of a multi-million redevelopment project in the heart of the city.
Commissioned by contractor Nobles Construction, the rendered apartments have been given a contemporary edge thanks to the installation by K2 of grey on white uPVC windows. Using VEKA M70 triple-glazed casement windows fabricated by Glazerite at their Bolton site, the team from Birkenhead-based K2 installed 744 frames over an eight-week period.
Liam Bird, Commercial Manager for K2, explains: “The building has increased insulation on it so a 225mm cill was required, which Glazerite catered for. Though the grey used makes the windows look like aluminium, uPVC was specified because of its thermal properties, and the incoming occupants will benefit from the energy efficiency uPVC brings.”
Liam adds: “The installation was challenging because we had to work around the other trades who were rendering and cladding the buildings at the same time. This also meant space on site was tight and there was minimal storage. Glazerite helped us by staggering deliveries and tailoring the schedule so we received exactly what we needed on a week by week basis.”
Pete Smith, Sales Manager for Glazerite, says: “The installation looks great and the windows fit perfectly with the contemporary feel of the apartments.
“We’ve worked with K2 for a long time on commercial projects, ranging from new builds to renovations, and the results are always fantastic. As a fabricator, we pride ourselves on being able to tailor our service to meet the needs of our installers accordingly, and we were delighted to help K2 out with staggered deliveries.”
