Pilkington Group Limited has announced the purchase of the Conservatory roof glass element of Tuffx Ltd. Under its Cervoglass brand, it is a leading manufacturer of conservatory roof glass, averaging over 600 conservatory glass roofs per month from its manufacturing unit in Aintree near Liverpool.

Matt Buckley, Marketing Director of Pilkington Building Products UK, said: “Tuffx is a very focused and successful business and we will incorporate the specialist skills and experience of the management and employees of Tuffx to supplement Pilkington’s existing capability and ensure Pilkington continues to grow. Tuffx is one of the largest customers of Pilkington Activ™ and the acquisition is consistent with our aspirations for Pilkington Activ™ and the Building Products - UK strategy of increasing its profitability and developing its position in the IGU manufacturing sector within the UK.”

Managing Director of Tuffx, Graham Price, said: “We are very pleased to join the Pilkington Group to continue to develop our conservatory glass product offering. It is as a direct result of the efforts that everyone in our company has made that we have turned into a specialist supplier to the conservatory industry. The new business will continue to be run by the current management team and I feel that this is excellent continuity for our customers and our employees.”

The processing business of Tuffx will operate as a separate company, Tuffx Processed Glass Ltd, and will continue to operate from its premises in Widnes.
