North East sealed unit manufacturer Clayton Glass reports its recent Window Energy Rating Forum a resounding success with 40 customers, prospects and suppliers attending. Supported by Edgetech, Clayton hosted the event to raise awareness of Window Energy Ratings (WERs). Ryan Green, Managing Director of Clayton Glass says: “We’re the largest sealed unit manufacturer in the North East so feel we have a responsibility to raise awareness of WER and the fantastic opportunities that come with it. Although we’re an IG manufacturer, we recognise what a great sales opportunity it provides our customers to offer rated windows now, and wanted to support them in doing this.
“Speakers on the day included Edgetech, Saint Gobain and Clayton Glass customer, Crossland Conservatories who has already made a huge success of selling rated windows. Between them they explained what WERs are, how to achieve them and how to make the most of them once you have them. The feedback at the end of the day was very positive and we were told we had managed to dispel the myths and enlightened the audience to the great sales opportunity WER provides. Edgetech’s WER:DIY package went down incredibly well too. It allowed our customers and prospects to see exactly what they could achieve with their existing profile and different glass and spacer combinations.
“We felt it was an important forum to hold because there is still a common misconception that WERs are difficult to achieve and technically or commercially not viable. There is also still some confusion among fabricators, installers and sealed unit manufacturers as to who can get energy ratings and how. Because of the range of products we offer, our customers can achieve a C, B or A rating with our sealed units. We are one of only a handful of companies in the UK to offer the entire range of WER glazing options; including hard and soft coat, low iron glasses, Super Spacer® Warm Edge Technology and the traditional aluminium spacer bar, argon and even Krypton gas fillings, giving our customers the choice, whether they want to offer a C rated window or opt for the much sought after A rating.”
Andy Ball, Marketing and Business Development Manager of Edgetech comments: “Edgetech was delighted to be involved in Clayton’s WER Forum because we want to help our customers sell more, whether by giving advice on the solutions available to improve productivity, offering technical or marketing support, or by helping our customers educate and raise awareness of selling opportunities such as WER to their customers and their customers’ customers.”
Clayton Glass now manufactures 500,000 units a year and has seen a 12% year-on year increase in sales for three years running. It has recently invested in its second manual Super Spacer applicator and has both applicators now running on a 24 hour operation to stay ahead of the increased demand for units with Super Spacer.
