Despite being unable to accept a last minute invitation to the ‘Industry Debate’, Edgetech has been following the comments about it closely over recent weeks. Before jumping in to add our views about what we think in principle is a great idea, we deliberately waited until the results of the day were published. So imagine our disappointment to learn that the organisers of the event will be drip feeding the topics to industry week by week! And to be frank, the first ‘blog’ published yesterday although extremely detailed, is not easy to react to.
We think the event was a good opportunity and look forward to the next one, but we can also understand the frustration behind some of the negative comments because it does feel like a closed shop. The most sensible way forward to start the real industry debate is to publish the minutes of the key issues now in a format to which industry can respond to. This allows everyone to consider the issues and to actively participate. At the end of the day, we were told the objective was to help the industry prepare for the challenges of a rapidly changing market. So let’s get things back on track.
