Pilkington Cervoglass, the highly successful specialist division that manufactures high performance insulated glass units for conservatories, is extending its manufacturing capacity and localising distribution by opening three new manufacturing operations in strategic areas of the UK.
Attached to existing Pilkington branches but operating autonomously as Pilkington Cervoglass outlets the new branches are at Cumbernauld, Birmingham and Plymouth, locations that will greatly reduce delivery journeys and thus emissions, improve delivery reliability and further shorten lead times. Sales and administration will continue to be centralised through the existing operation at Aintree, with all contact details unchanged.
With Pilkington Cervoglass’s Aintree operation close to manufacturing capacity as demand for the company’s products continues to soar, the expansion will also double output immediately, with plans to quadruple production during the next five years.
Pilkington Cervoglass has enjoyed huge success with its range of high performance IGUs especially designed for conservatories. These offer a choice of performance options including roof glass incorporating thermal insulation (Pilkington Cervoglass™ Therm); roof glass with solar and thermal control (Pilkington Cervoglass™ Sun). and the flagship self-cleaning glazing with solar control with thermal insulation (Pilkington Cervoglass™ Activ);
Pilkington Cervoglass General Manager Peter Quinn says that the expansion is essential to cope with demand and to enhance service: “The distinct trend is for conservatory buyers to demand glass in their roofs because of the performance options available. Cervoglass did a great deal to create that trend and as sales are quite literally going through the roof we have created regionalised manufacturing and distribution points to increase capacity and reduce lead and delivery times, as well as reducing our vehicle journeys. Our customers will quickly enjoy the benefits.”
