The Council for Aluminium in Building’s first ever Regional Members Meeting in Belfast, at the Waterfront Conference Centre, was attended by a sell out audience of 200 members and their guests. The event contained a dynamic mix of up to the minute technical and marketing information, expert presentations on aluminium sustainability and was rounded off with superb comedy.
A CAB presentation on the latest standards, regulations and best practice was followed by Marlen Bertram, Deputy Secretary General,International Aluminium Institute (IAI) who overviewed recent research regarding the sustainability of aluminium. CAB has worked closely with the IAI in order to complete its recent ‘Aluminium in Sustainability’ report which is available for download on the CAB website at www.c-a-b.org.uk.
The evening’s formal programme closed with a very witty after dinner speech from the legendary Frank Carson. The event raised over £4,500 for his nominated charities, Foyle Hospice and the Integrated Education Fund, in what was due to be one of the comedian’s last public appearances.
