Following requests from its membership the Council for Aluminium in Building has successfully launched a leading series of ‘Contractual Awareness’ seminars. The first two half day sessions entitled ‘Foundation in Construction’ and ‘Basic Contract Formation’ took place at Warwick HRI in November 2008 and involved more than 80 members and their guests from across the supply chain.
CAB has joined forces with SLS Solicitors, who specialise in construction and engineering practice, and who have put together a training package which emphasises the requirements placed upon systems companies, installers and supply chain companies.
The seminars, which are highly competitively priced, have struck a chord with members’ needs in the current challenging climate. The introductory ‘Foundation’ seminar focused on providing a grounding on the basic relationship between parties to a construction contract together with key legislation and matters which commonly arose on a practical level. The second more advanced session on contract formation enabled delegates to understand the key provisions of contract formation and to appreciate risks in this area with relevance to their business. The next two seminars in the series entitled ‘Surviving the Credit Crunch’ and ‘Top Contractual Nightmares’ are being held before the next CAB Members Meeting on February 26, which takes place at the Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Anyone interested in either attending the seminars or for more information about joining CAB should contact Julie Harley at the CAB office on 01453 828851 or visit the association’s website at www.c-a-b.org.uk
