It’s disappointing to hear the news that Glassex has been postponed. I think it’s a shame the show will no longer exist as its own entity but I do believe EMAP has done the right thing. Perhaps not brilliantly handled, but as Glassex has recently struggled to get the footfall it once did, a new route had to be explored.
Rumours have been rife about the show and whether or not it would go ahead, but now it has been put off until Interbuild, talk has turned to what the industry will do instead. Some are discussing whether another networking event or a fishing trip would be best! At the time of writing 62% were in favour of a networking event!
I think many in the industry will miss the chance to catch up with old friends, meet new contacts and be part of the general discussions and networking for which Glassex provided a good forum. While it’s no substitute, we hope the seminar we have organised for the 26th February at the Coventry Ricoh Arena will go some way to offering the industry an opportunity to get together, catch up, discuss issues and network, as well as hear from glazing and energy efficiency experts on the challenges and opportunities facing us in 2009.
