South Wales Network VEKA fabricator Modplan has beaten off competition from other top manufacturing companies to take a major trophy in the region’s annual business awards.
More than 100 guests at the Caerphilly Business Forum ceremony applauded Modplan for gaining the ‘Achievement in Manufacturing’ trophy.
Modplan has continued to increase turnover despite the industry downturn, including growing sales via a partner company in Scandinavia. It opened its third production site in 2008 and fourth in 2009 to increase window capacity and will continue to grow into 2010 with a planned £250,000 investment in new machinery.
The trophy was presented by BBC Wales’s Jason Mohammed to Modplan QA Manager Lyn Jones, who had prepared the award submission along with Operations Manager Darren Smart.
“This was only the second year we have entered these awards,” said Darren. “Last year Modplan finished “runners up” which and was a significant step in the company’s progression, and to win the award this year was a great achievement for the company, and the employees who deserve this accolade for all their efforts and service over the years.
