Kömmerling’s parent company, Profine Group has just opened a new test and prototyping plant at the Pirmasens production site in Germany, to support the group which operates in 21 different countries.
The new centralised test and prototyping department is headed up by Armin Bill and is responsible for the development of product prototypes, window and door systems tests as well as the supporting role of product development within the group. It’s already playing an important part in the development of the new Kömmerling O70 Gold System and in the forthcoming launch of the 88 Plus system.
The new plant has been the result of a half a million pound investment in the refurbishment of the building and in new capital equipment such as an oversize window testing rig for frames up to 4800mm x 2600mm in size, which has an integrated climatic chamber.
Robert Thiroff, managing director of Kömmerling comments: “This important new investment will help enable Kömmerling to bring new products to market quicker and with greater energy efficiency characteristics. We’ll be able to respond to market demand quicker than most of our competitors and we’ve already laid down several new tools including a new slim, sash since the opening of the facility.”
The new plant has also been supported by leading machinery companies including Elumatec, Stürtz, Rotox and Urban to ensure that the products developed are easier than ever to manufacture for Kömmerling fabricators.
