Revisions to Part L of the Building Regulations came into force last October. But as many fabricators and installers will admit, even four months after the changes came into effect, there is still a lot of confusion surrounding them. In response to this confusion, leading trade VEKA fabricator Modplan Ltd has just launched a simple and user-friendly Q&A guide to the revisions which is available on its website, www.modplan.co.uk.
Heidi Sachs, Modplan’s Managing Director explains why her company has launched the guide by saying, “Our customers are busy people. They want to comply with the revised regulations but they don’t have the time to wade through the documentation that outlines it. We were getting lots of calls from customers asking questions about the changes and we decided that a Q&A document would help our customers during this transition phase. It provides answers to the most popular questions we’ve been hearing and is something our customers can consult whenever they need.”
The Q&A covers everything from the basic “How do I certify my windows and doors?” and “Do I use U values or WERs?” to the more technical “Can the frame specification change the WER?” All the questions and answers are in clear, plain English so customers can get the information they’re looking for quickly and easily and understand the implications for their business.
Heidi adds, “In a year’s time, the new regulations will be well-established. Everyone will understand what they need to do to comply and we’ll have forgotten all this uncertainty ever happened. But if we’re going to get to that situation, we need guides such as ours to point people in the right direction. We’re confident it will be one of the most visited pages of our website, but we would still encourage people to get in touch if they have any queries because we’re always happy to help.”
Modplan’s customer service policy is to treat its customers as partners. Support such as this Q&A document demonstrates that policy perfectly.
