Students at the University of Limerick in Southern Ireland receive the benefit of Andy Jones’s wisdom

Manufacturing and Operations Engineering students at the University of Limerick in Southern Ireland received the benefit of Andy Jones’s wisdom in early March this year. Andy gave a presentation on the benefits of warm edge technology to 60 fourth year students, who will be set a question on the paper in one of their final exams.

Long-standing customer John Walsh, of Limerick-based Walsh Windows, was approached by students researching a project on insulation. “We’d replaced their parent’s windows,” explains John, “and they wanted to know more about the insulating properties of the windows and their component parts. Professor Conleth Hussey, Head of Department of Materials, Science and Technology at the university, then asked me if I could arrange a presentation for his fourth year students. I rang Edgetech and Andy Jones came over himself.”

“Andy Jones and Dave Cox came to the university as experts in their field,” observes Michael O’Connor, Guest Lecturer at Limerick University. “New technology as a solution to government legislation needs to be taught to the next generation. Books and literature are good mediums for learning the basics, but having professionals presenting helps our students keep up with what the market needs.”

John and his management team are graduates of the University of Limerick. “To be able to put something back into the community is marvellous. We spoke to the students on marketing, sales aids and speed of manufacture. Edgetech has educated Ireland’s next generation of building engineers on the latest technology. Professor Hussey was so impressed, we’ve been asked to give the presentation annually!”
