Modplan keeps their finger on the pulse!

Leading VEKA trade fabricator Modplan has just announced that its Quality and Health and Safety Manager, Lyn Jones, has been tasked with preparing the company for the 1 July 2013 CE marking legislation change. Heidi Sachs, Modplan’s Managing Director, said, “Mandatory CE marking is a big change for the industry and one that’s welcome: many of our products are CE marked for sale into our European markets and we understand and appreciate the benefits it brings. With Lyn as our CE marking champion we can build on our existing knowledge ready for the new UK legislation. We hope that by starting preparation now we can give our customers early market advantage in July 2013.”

On 1 July 2013, the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) will come into force and it will be mandatory for products covered by a harmonised European standard (hEN) to have CE marking, a change that will have an impact on all sealed unit manufacturers, toughened glass processors, window and door fabricators and window and door installers. With a change this important, it’s vital that you stay in touch with developments – or stay in touch with a reliable source, such as Modplan, that has considerable knowledge already and is keeping a finger on the pulse in relation to the UK legislation.

As a company supplying the European market, Modplan is one of the few UK manufacturers to already have CE marked products. Its Modplan Nordic operation supplies products to customers in countries including Norway, Sweden, Germany, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Denmark and Lithuania and its products comply with the requirements for CE marking in those countries.

Heidi says, “We feel confident that we already have some knowledge of the requirements for CE marked products, but we’re not complacent. We will be keeping a close eye on the developments in relation to the requirements for UK accreditation.”

Good customer service is often seen as being about efficient processes and a rapid turnaround time. It undoubtedly is, but great customer service goes beyond that: it provides customers with valuable information that helps them to run their businesses. Having the benefit of a CE marking champion at this stage, the team at Modplan are demonstrating that they understand exactly what great customer service is.
